Vegan Broccoli and Cheese Soup

2 tbsp olive oil (or enough to coat pan)
1 onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups vegetable broth
2 cups unsweetened Kikkoman soy milk
1 bunch broccoli, florets cut, stems chopped
3/4 cup nutritional yeast
2 tsp lemon juice
3/4 tsp salt + additional for onion
1/2 tsp pepper
